Jaco is very well known for its nightlife, although it has change quiet a lot through out the years, Jaco has turn into a very beautiful and developed beach with lots of stunning restaurants and a wide variety of activities to choose from.
How to get there?
From San Jose
Drive west towards Puntarenas on route 27, after passing Orotina (57min drive) you will take the exit to Jaco. Then drive on route 34 for 1 hour and 20 minutes to get to Jaco.
Take route 1 towards Puntarenas, drive for 1 hour and 50 minutes, after Barranca you will take the exit towards Caldera. Follow this highway for 18 miles and take the exit to Jaco. Once on route 34 drive for 22.7 miles to get to Jaco.
Take the bus Jaco – San Jose at the 7-10 Terminal (+506 2519-9743), this is located between Avenue 7 and Street 10 Downtown San Jose. This trip takes about 3 hours.
Jaco beach is a popular beach only one hour away from San Jose
This beach can be a little crowed during the weekends, so if you want a more chill experience you must visit during the week. On the beach there is a few people offering surf lessons as well as umbrellas and chairs, this is a big plus, since the price is totally worth it.
When you come to this beach we recommend you to ask the locals about the abandon look out, where you can get a beautiful look of the town and get a good morning hike.
Jaco beach is a great place to visit with your family and also a nice area to move. It offers everything you will need to live comfortably, even a movie theater can be found in the center of town.
Jaco beach is also a great place for beginner surfers that want to learn this sport in a safe beach, the waves can go from mellow to a high tide throughout the day, but you can take advantage of that and start your lessons early in the morning when the sea is calm and there is not many people around.
