Heredia is a city located north from San Jose and east from Alajuela. It contains several major environmentally important areas such as the Braulio Carrillo National Park and the Sarapiqui River.

Its temperature ranges from hot and humid in the north of the province, to a cold climate in its mountainous areas and temperate areas in the Central Valley area.

Heredia is known as “Ciudad de las Flores” which literally means the “City of Flowers”, this due the amount of beautiful women found in this area.
