Costa Rica is located between 9 and 10 degrees north of the equator in Central America.  It is bordered by Nicaragua to the north and Panama to the south. The Caribbean Sea is to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west.

Sometimes people get confused between Puerto Rico and Costa Rica. But as we mention previously, the country is located in Central America. Therefore Costa Rica is not an island.

Due to its location, Costa Rica does not need to have any Daylight Savings.

This said, we are located on Central Standard Time CST. So the Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) thoughout the country remains on -6 year round.
